Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The Architectural Engineer will be responsible for the inspection, monitoring, reporting and quality control for the delivery of the Front and Back of House areas on the Doha Metro Education City Station. Works scope will include cladding, glazing, wall, floor and ceiling finishes, doors, windows and associated hardware, and all other architectural finishes.

Role will also include responsibility to oversee that the works are executed to the highest safety standards and delivered to achieve the schedule milestones.

Quality
• Applies quality management approaches to ensure that the works are constructed in accordance with the design intent and project specifications.
• Compliance with Inspection and Test Plans to be managed to ensure that the requirements are followed by all subcontractors. Experience in this area needed, but not QA Manager certification level.
• Manage quality procedures and processes to ensure the industry best practice is followed.

Design
• The right candidate will have specific knowledge and experience reviewing contractor shop drawings and will provide comments/feedback where required.
• Resolve field issues as quickly as possible based on the situation. Time frames for resolution of field issues with be commensurate with the project requirements . Candidates must be able to give examples of experience in this sphere.

Safety
• Support in the management of health, safety, security and environment.
• Monitor risk assessments and ensure they are complied with.
• Ensure site safety plans and safety procedures are followed.
• Familiarise oneself with all the requirements and ensure queries or issues are raised with the relevant individuals or management as they arise.

Work based responsibilities
• Assist in the development of look ahead schedules.
• Review Contractor’s daily reports and comment on progress of works.
• Review interfaces and address conflicts.
• Coordinate with interfacing works and subcontractors on a day-to day basis.
• Assist in resolving technical issues.
• Monitor and report material and manpower availability to perform the works.

Requirements

• 5 years of dedicated field experience in a similar role managing contractors / subcontractors.
• BSc Architecture. (Construction Management is acceptable with an architectural focus).
• High-end front of house and utilitarian back of house experience.
• Major project experience required. Preferably large public buildings or projects with an architectural emphasis. Metro project experience would be an advantage
• MS Office skills required.
• Clear communicator. Must be able to speak and write English.
• Needs to be aware that site runs 24/7 so deployment could be on a shift or rostered basis.

This role demands that the individual spends the majority of time on site. Fulfillment of duties requires good health to be able to access all areas to oversee the underground station works.
