Opportunity:

Parsons is the Project Management Consultancy for a major rail systems project in Qatar. Scope includes Rolling Stock, Signaling, Telecoms, Electrification, OCC, Tunnel Ventilation, AFC, MEP in stations, track, depot and stabling yards. We are currently looking for a Assistant Resident Engineer - Electrical MV/Traction Power Supply with rail systems design and build projects experience.

Position Overview:

The Assistant Resident Electrical Engineer will be responsible for assisting the Power Systems Manager/Resident Electrical Engineer in the site supervision, inspection & witnessing of testing of works and reporting on the Traction and Station Power installations being carried out by the Systems Contractor during the implementation phases of the project. The ARE will be responsible for the construction of the Traction and Station Power substations within 37 stations, independent traction power sub stations, the installation of all AC and DC related equipment, depot stinger systems, 225 km of installed third rail, and expansion joints for the project, including depots and stabling yards

Job Responsibilities:

- Assist in the review shop and installation drawings, testing and commissioning plans/procedures/method statement and as built drawings and Site acceptance test reports.
- Ensure the Contactor and sub-contractors meet their deliverables in terms of quality, content and timeliness, coordinate with others, estimate work, track work progress, interface with clients and other tasks as may be appropriate for this position.
- Interface, coordinate with other external Contractors such as the civil works contractors, external authorities.
- To support, guide and manage the Contractors works through implementation, construction, testing and commissioning and handover.
- To support the Power Systems Manager/Resident Electrical Engineer and Team in all project related activities as and when required / requested.
- Assist in the Management of the Contractor and subcontractors thru construction of the project through to handover.
- Assist in the review work and ensure the proper and timely implementation of all internal processes.
- Assist with all aspects of the work to meet project functionality, quality and delivery goals.
- Assist in the coordinate works with all parties, interface and to work cooperatively with other disciplines and other stakeholders.
- Development, review and editing of site construction and progress reports.
- To proactively lead and contribute to the success of the project.

Requirements

- BSc in Electrical/Electronic/Telecommunication Engineering or a relevant degree.
- Total of 10 years work experience and a minimum of 5 years work experience in the railway, focused on implementation and handover.
- Knowledge of AC and DC power systems, including DC third rail metro and DC light rail power systems.
- Knowledge of design and site-build (concrete) substations and their related components including AC switchgear, harmonic correction equipment, rectifier transformers, rectifiers, inverters, DC switchgear, UPS systems and batteries, MV AC cabling, DC traction power feeder cables and control cables among others elements.
- Knowledge of AC, MV (33kV) 50 Hz power distribution.
- Knowledge of Cable trays and duct banks management systems.
- Awareness of DC Stray Current and earthling practices.
- Knowledge of applicable International codes and standards.
- Ability to use Microsoft office suite of software.
- Site construction and installation, testing and commissioning experience and exposure.
- Proactive nature and be able to plan ahead and anticipate project conditions, issues and plan accordingly.
- Have a good command of English, to prepare discipline specific presentations, letters, memo, email and other correspondence.
