Job description / Role
Note : This position is on a temporary basis for a period of one month only
Basic Function and Scope:
The AutoCAD Draftsman, will be a member of the Facilities Development section of company Project Management Team which is responsible for the design, construction and start-up of a major new Ship Repair Yard (“Yard”), in the expanded Port of Ras Laffan, Qatar.
Following completion of the development of the Yard, there may be an opportunity to join the Yard’s drawing office.
Tasks and Duties:
Assist Senior Engineer Facilities and other Sections of the Project Team to develop the overall layout (general arrangement) of the Yard, and layouts of the various workshops and support areas which comprise the Yard.
Work with other Sections of the Project Team on preparation of supporting documents for the Contract(s) between Company and the Consulting Engineers.
Work with other Sections of the Project Team to assist the Consulting Engineers to obtain the information they require from Company and others, to undertake their work.
Work with other Sections of the Project Team to manage the reception, distribution and security all technical documentation relating to design, construction and operation of the Yard.
Work with other Sections of the Project Team to ensure that drawings and other technical information provided by Consulting Engineers, equipment suppliers and others meet specifications and other requirements agreed with Company
Assist in the production of purchase specifications for the major items of plant and equipment required for operation of the Yard.
Assist in the production of the list and outline specifications of minor items of plant and equipment required for operation of the Yard.
Assist in the design of miscellaneous items required for operation of the yard (e.g., stools, trestles, pallets, ramps, access towers).
Work with other Sections of the Project Team to establish and maintain a library of technical documents related to construction of the Yard (e.g., construction standards, norms, standard contracts, materials specifications, “as built” drawings, etc.).
Work with other Sections of the Project Team to protect Company’s property for which the Project Team is responsible (including intellectual property).
Requirements
Diploma or internationally recognised technical qualifications in drafting or related discipline.
Minimum of 2-3 years experience in mechanical, electrical and civil AutoCAD Drafting.
Experience in layout of buildings or workshops.
Proficiency in computer graphics and/or 3D design software would be an advantage.
Fully proficient in MS Word; MS Excel; MS PowerPoint.
Should have acceptable technical computer skills (scanning, printing, faxing, etc …)
Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).
Able to work with little supervision.
