Role overview:

The cable engineer will be responsible for overseeing the design review, installation, and testing of high-voltage (HV) and extra-high-voltage (EHV) cable systems ranging from 66 kV to 400 kV. This role ensures technical compliance, quality assurance, and effective coordination across substation and overhead line (OHL) interfaces.

Key responsibilities:

Review engineering designs and supervise the installation of HV/EHV cable systems (66u2013400 kV), ensuring adherence to project specifications and safety standards.

Witness and validate cable testing procedures including very low frequency (VLF), tan delta, and partial discharge (PD) tests.

Coordinate with substation and overhead line (OHL) teams to ensure proper interface alignment and execution.

Monitor contractor activities to ensure compliance with technical requirements and quality benchmarks.

Support troubleshooting and resolution of cable-related issues during installation and commissioning phases.

Review cable routing, trenching, jointing, and termination methodologies for technical accuracy and constructability.

Requirements:

Bacheloru2019s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in HV cable projects, including installation and testing.

Proven expertise in XLPE cable systems, including jointing, termination, and testing procedures.

Strong understanding of international standards and testing protocols related to HV/EHV cable systems.

Excellent coordination, documentation, and communication skills.
