Category Procurement Manager (fixed term contract until January 2023)

What you will be doing:

- Build and maintain long-term relationships with vendors
- Placing appropriate orders to ensure product availability meets demand
- Ensure product availability
- Research and development of new products and services for the project
- Establish contracts to ensure reduced pricing for all operating areas of the project
- Contract negotiation
- Provide new and innovative solutions when the standard route to market is not successful, along with the energy to effect change with the process, in situations where demand outweighs supply
- Deliver in a fast-pace, short lead time setup. Remain delivering to agreed SLAs
- Calculate forecasts for product demand trends
- Manage and track budgets. Assume responsibility of budget development and revenue for category
- Implement sound purchasing policies, systems and procedures in accordance with Company standards
- Look for the efficient operation of the Procurement Department in all aspects of your work
- Monitor vendors for quality, service and price through standard purchasing specifications
- Overseeing procurement team members and other support staff
- Building and driving relationships with key vendors to improve pricing and quality of services
- Leading category management projects to optimise on items procured
- Creating forecasts for product demand to ensure sustainability of inventory
- Developing strong working relationships with buying, marketing and merchandising teams
- Raising Purchase Orders, as required
- Carrying out regular market survey prices of all items and services for the project by keeping constant touch with the suppliers
- Follow up and ensuring goods are delivered in accordance with the purchase order and without any delay
- Responsible for making sure that the administrative procedures relating to the purchase of goods are followed
- Ensuring the suppliers follow the rules relating to hygiene of goods delivered
- Maintaining all documents, files and listings up-to-date and performing duties in the most efficient manner; in a way that they can be checked at any time for information or audit purposes.
- Liaison with the Purchasing Supervisor, Receiving Agent, Storekeepers and Assistant Group Director of Procurement.
- Maintain spare part manuals, catalogues, and list of suppliers.
- Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Head of Department.

Requirements

Your experience and skills include:

- Previous working experience as a Category Procurement Manager for a minimum of six years
- Strong knowledge of category management, marketing and sales principles
- Ability to analyse and develop accurate conclusions to support category decisions based on key data
- An understanding of the market and consumer insights and trends. Familiarity of the Qatar market is highly preferrable
- Strong people management and persuasion skills to manage and influence at all levels of the company
- An analytical mindset with strategic ability
- Understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Good understanding of numeracy
- Hands-on experience with analyzing big data and making forecasts
- Analytical and critical thinker
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
- BSc/BA in business administration, marketing or related field. BA in business administration, marketing or similar relevant field preferable
- Strong interpersonal, communication, organization and follow-through skills
- Ability to develop and build relationships and utilize skills appropriately
- Ability to process information and process through computer system
- Ability to maintain a fair, consistent set of standards as they apply to work force
- Ability to adjust priorities and manage time wisely in a fast-paced environment.
