Chief Accountant

Job description / Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Accountant to join our dynamic team in the real estate industry in Qatar. The Chief Accountant will play a pivotal role in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing strategic financial insights to support our growth and development. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership abilities, exceptional analytical skills, and a comprehensive understanding of accounting principles and practices relevant to the real estate sector.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with local and international accounting standards.
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Prepare and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
- Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors to ensure a smooth audit process.
- Manage cash flow, monitor cash positions, and ensure the company meets its financial obligations.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Analyze financial data and prepare reports to present to senior management, highlighting key insights and trends.
- Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and oversee tax reporting and planning.
- Collaborate with other departments to support business initiatives and drive financial performance.

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a Master's degree or professional accounting certification (CPA, ACCA, etc.) is preferred.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in a senior accounting role, preferably within the real estate sector.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards.
- Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
- Proficient in accounting software and ERP systems; advanced Excel skills are essential.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
- Fluency in English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
