Job summary

As chief engineer, you will lead the engineering and maintenance operations of the property, ensuring all systems run efficiently and safely. You will oversee preventive maintenance programs, ensure compliance with local regulations, and maintain high sustainability standards in line with Our Habitas' ethos.

This leadership role demands technical expertise, strategic planning, and a hands-on approach to deliver exceptional guest experiences while preserving our natural surroundings.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of the engineering department, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and building maintenance.
• Lead preventive and corrective maintenance programs to ensure uninterrupted operations and guest comfort.
• Supervise and mentor the engineering team, promoting a culture of safety, sustainability, and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate with external vendors, contractors, and local authorities for inspections, certifications, and special projects.
• Ensure all engineering practices comply with health and safety standards, fire and life safety codes, and environmental guidelines.
• Collaborate with other department heads to support operational needs and special events.
• Develop and control the engineering budget, including energy consumption and cost-saving initiatives.
• Implement and track sustainability efforts aligned with Our Habitas environmental goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in engineering (mechanical/electrical preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior engineering position, ideally within the hospitality sector.
• Strong knowledge of building management systems (BMS), energy management, and sustainability best practices.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and project management capabilities.
• Fluency in English required; Arabic is a plus.
• Experience working in remote or environmentally sensitive locations is an advantage.
