Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Job Summary and Purpose:

Responsible for construction and production activities onboard from pre-production inspection to completion of structural and mechanical construction of ship repair, shipbuilding, conversion and new build projects. Construction Manager will act as subject matter expert on matters related to production and construction activities across various projects and providing expert guidance to project and production heads / teams.

Key Accountabilities:

• Responsible for providing technical direction / guidance to head of production departments / project managers in mechanical / construction / production activities of marine repair and construction assignments.
• Directly oversee the construction activities onboard and ensure the project milestones are achieved within the construction specifications and in compliance to classification guidelines.
• Assist the commercial team in reviewing the tender design & documentation for new projects.
• Review detailed structural drawings, calculations, hull outfit designs and liaise with class & owners with regard to various construction document approvals.
• Specifies work standards where not specified by the Owners.
• Prepare technical specifications for shipboard equipment, technical review of quotations, technical approval of equipment, spares and materials needed for the projects.
• Ensure that all Technical query reports, site instructions and work completion forms are submitted to owners and signed on time.
• Inspect and verify installations on-board and completion of mechanical, fabrication and hull construction activities and generate related reports.
• Integrate harmoniously various production and construction activities across various projects and set priorities and completion milestones.
• Oversee the yard manpower availability for various projects and coordinate with project planners to allocate according to the most optimum usage to achieve project delivery dates.
• Identify and communicate any potential risk involved in the project execution phase to the departments and customers.
• Ensures compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures and controls across the division in order to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance and a responsible environmental attitude.
• Performs other related duties or assignments as required in order to ensure the continuous operations of the division.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Naval architect / degree in mechanical or marine engineering/ offshore.

Experience:

• Experience in the field of offshore fabrication projects (Jackets, Topside, Process modules, Living Quarter module.)
• Relevant working experience in ship repair yard or fabrication facilities with conversion and new building facilities.
• 8 years relevant working experience.

• Education and knowledge in Mechanical / Electrical, or Marine Engineering is essential.
• Good knowledge and experience in different process involved in construction activities and related quality requirements.
• Sound knowledge in mechanical construction activities, Certification requirements and regulatory requirements of Marine and Offshore, process and Drilling equipment.
• Familiar with Norsok standards, class rules and ship building standards.
