Diploma, HNC, or vocational qualification in sciences, engineering, or industrial fields.
Eight years experience with large projects in mechanical and HVAC construction-related disciplines (e.g., construction, installation, fabrication, execution, completion, etc.) in the offshore oil and gas industry, including one year of experience in a supervisory role, including acting roles, or oversight of service or vendor personnel.
Experience as a mechanical or HVAC specialist or superintendent for offshore oil and gas projects.
Knowledge of design standards, specifications, codes, and appropriate safety criteria related to mechanical and HVAC.
Experience working in large-scale operating organizations in operations, projects, and subsurface.
Knowledge of execution methods and risks associated with sour gas and LNG production facilities.
Significant experience in working with EPC contractors and interfacing with specialized service suppliers.
Demonstrated ability and sensitivity to work with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on teamwork and the ability to communicate and interact within a project management team (PMT).
Application and in-depth knowledge of stakeholder specifications and a working knowledge of industry standards.
A high level of proficiency in written and spoken English.
Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, and other relevant applications.
Excellent communication and written skills and ability to work with different disciplines.
High awareness of safe working practices associated with design, construction, installation, pre-commissioning, and commissioning of onshore pipelines and facilities.
Activities
- Review, audit, and recommend for approval mechanical and HVAC scopes for the NFXP topsides project. Review and approve mechanical and HVAC contractor procedures, construction sequence or logic, work plans or procedures, pre-task planning, and method statements to ensure effective work execution and safety.
- Review and monitor project mechanical and HVAC design, including engineering or site queries, field design changes, deviation requests, non-conformance reports, and EPC contractor design changes or deviations from company directives, ensuring compliance with management of change procedures.
- Participate as required in incident or accident investigation and prevention of recurrence. Promote safety awareness and safe performance among project team members, including consultants and contractor personnel.
- Provide company representation in monitoring and coordinating site mechanical and HVAC equipment activities of EPC contractors, vendors, and their subcontractors for all mechanical and HVAC equipment.
- Report on construction activities, progress, areas of concern, and mitigating actions. Prepare for and participate in construction-related meetings.
- Provide guidance and timely review of EPC contractor's mechanical and HVAC engineering designs and processes, verifying fitness for purpose and compliance with contract requirements including codes and standards. Ensure PMT or other technical support is available to address any gaps.
- Coordinate EPC contractor and vendor work activities, and interface coordination with the activities of third parties.
- Review method statements, job safety analyses (JSAs), and other documents to ensure safe and proper construction and project management consultancy (PMC) by EPC contractors.
- Ensure construction work is carried out in accordance with Qatargas rules, regulations, standards, and permit to work procedures as applicable.
- Support Head of Construction in delivery of the engineering and process design of mechanical equipment, HVAC duct and equipment, and coordinate the field installation of mechanical and HVAC duct or equipment, providing start-up and commissioning support.
- Promote inter-departmental communications and encourage teamwork through managing the mechanical and HVAC engineering interface between engineering, operations, and startup teams.
- Provide technical support and advice to project procurement and construction activities and support Head of Construction in monitoring the EPC contractor progress on delivery of the required documents in the mechanical or HVAC engineering discipline.
- Review the construction sequence or logic, work plans or procedures, pre-task planning, and method statements to ensure effective work execution and safety.
- Report progress, performance, initiatives, issues, and challenges to Head of Construction.
- Provide input to and review development of contractor's detailed plans to complete the work. Also report and record potential change order requests to assist in claims avoidance.
- Review work and inspection results to ensure compliance with EPC contract requirements.
- Interface and coordinate with project field engineering and quality control (QC) sections.
- Monitor and ensure the correction of non-conformance report items and other issues supporting quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC).
- Monitor site material handling and preservation to facilitate construction progress and quality of materials.
