Established in 2001 as a partnership between Cornell University and Qatar Foundation, WCM-Q is part of Weill Cornell Medicine in New York and shares its mission of dedication to excellence in education, patient care and research.

The first medical school in Qatar and a pioneer of coeducation at university level, WCM-Q offers an integrated program of pre-medical and medical studies leading to the Cornell University M.D. degree. Teaching is by Cornell and Weill Cornell faculty, including physicians at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) who hold Weill Cornell appointments.

WCM-Q is in its 17th year of operation and is seeking a candidate for Content Development Specialist.

Reporting to the Director of the Distributed e-Library, the Content Development Specialist is responsible for providing support and contributing to the Library’s vision to move beyond the traditional role of content curation to its creation.

The incumbent will be responsible for working with the library team members to develop various types of content in support of the department’s education and research mission, leading the content production of assigned outreach, marketing and website materials, participating in library led workshops, providing consultation support on topics such as effective writing for the web and a non-scientific audience, providing basic copy-editing services to faculty and researchers, working with clinicians to translate scientific evidence into consumer-friendly reports, providing supplementary content development support for other college initiatives as needed, serving as a liaison to the writing center and coordinating service lines as appropriate.

Requirements

The successful candidate is required to have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, a minimum of 2 years professional editing and proofreading experience, with strong verbal/written English communication skills demonstrating a high degree of English fluency, strong time management skills, creative thinking and problem solving skills, and demonstrated knowledge of various writing styles, in particular scientific writing, writing for the online environment, and writing for the consumer. Advanced degree in a related field is preferred. Prior teaching experience, familiarity with graphic design, visualization tools, or related practices, and health sciences, biomedical research or healthcare fields would be seen as an asset.

Candidates must be willing to relocate to Doha, Qatar for the duration of the appointment. Compensation will include a competitive salary with supplement for Foreign Service, housing and transportation.
