Employment: Full Time

Position Summary
Performs a variety of activities related to the planning and performance of research, involving retrieval, analysis and display of genomic data. Works as part of a team to establish and maintain a high throughput genomics research laboratory.

Job Responsibilities
• Analyzes a broad range of genomic data.
• In collaboration with research scientists, develops/acquires scripts and software to analyze and display data.
• Develops and documents methods to improve data annotation and result synthesis.
• Becomes familiar with large genomics community software development and statistical analysis projects and implements latest analysis algorithms.
• Documents and deposits software code in local repository in an organized and timely manner, and submits datasets to public repositories.
• Learns Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) operation and database structure.
• Assists in maintenance of genomic laboratory database.
• Interfaces with scientists to provide access to necessary reports and data housed in the LIMS.
• Performs other job related duties as required.

Requirements

Education
• Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Computer Science.

Experience
• Minimum 1 year’s previous programing experience.
• Knowledge of Java or C++ desirable.
• Experience with NGS bioinformatics tools an advantage.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Proficiency in Perl or Python and SQL.
• Comfortable in Linux, Windows and Macintosh environments.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
• Work is approximately 90% is computer based, 10% clinical and lab based.
• Work may require extended and varying work hours to meet demands.
