Design Coordinator - Doha, Qatar
A unique opportunity to work on one of the biggest highway programs in the region in a diversified team of Engineers! We are looking for a Design Coordinator to join one of our Highways projects in Qatar. The successful candidate will work as an integrated member of the Construction Supervision team.
Enabling greater mobility in Qatar with shortened travel times and improved public safety, the Expressway projects are being supervised by our expert design and construction supervision team. We are looking for a professional who will ensure client satisfaction and help strengthen our project delivery capabilities.
This is for the role of a site based Design Coordinator.
The Design Coordinator will be responsible for:
• Review and coordination of all design related submissions by the contractor.
• Coordinate any contractor design submissions/alternative designs with the designer/client.
• Coordinate all technical queries with the team as well as the project design consultant.
• Ensuring any design changes initiated by the designer/client are coordinated, logged and issued to the contractor.
• Study and review the Issued for Construction documents for completeness. Identify any gaps or shortcomings and coordinate any necessary changes with the designer/client.
• Ensure that design interfaces both within the project and with adjacent projects are properly coordinated and documented.
• Liaise with the SRE and site team to ensure they are aware of potential changes to the design and potential impact this may have.
• Review contractor’s temporary works designs in coordination with the resident engineersCoordinate with health and safety manager/engineer for any design issues relating to safety of construction or operation.
• Carry out the role of Lessons Learned coordinator.
• Carry out the role of project hand-over coordinator.
• Lead and minute all technical meetings with the contractor and stakeholders when necessary and produce minutes of meetings for the same.
• Contribute to all project reporting requirements.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering
• 10 years’ experience in the design of complex highways, projects.
• Experience of using single model environments for the design of multi-discipline projects.
• Experience with quality control procedures is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Good written English is necessary
