Responsibilities

Our newest opportunity is for a talented Design Engineer, seconded to our Client from government sector in Doha, Qatar.

We envisage success in this role to include;
- Reviewing designs submitted by Framework Contractors for emergency and also permanent solutions to issues pertaining roads and its assets, assuring they will meet the need.
- Reviewing complex and critical network asset drawings, plans and reports provided by Developers of Ashghal's Assets, Projects Affairs and ROMD Sections for future/current ROMD projects to ensure that ROMD requirements are met.
- Reviewing complex technical specifications in procurement documentation submitted by framework Contractors.
- Providing expert advice and guidance to complex and critical design solutions and/or enquires to mitigate various prevailing and impending problems.
- Carrying out site visits to observe and analyze operational parameters and feasibility of designed solutions.
- Coordinating with different stakeholders (Asset Management, Sections, Design Department, etc.) to reach a partnership approach and an agreed solution.
- Providing all required design calculations, drawings, project specifications, bill of quantities (prepare and provide input for tender and work order specifications, work scope for asset design projects).
- Managing and coordinating works of the team as instructed by the Head of Section.
- Attending the consultation meetings and clarify all contractor's queries.
- Following up the project implementation, working on solving the design problems that arise during the execution of the projects.
- Researching and keeping up to date with current and future needs in terms of Assets and propose solutions.
- Supporting the section and department in emergency management such as rainy season activities including attendance at Emergency Control Centre (ECC) and/or site.
- Reviewing and providing recommendations on technical aspects of asset drawings, plans and reports provided by the Project Affairs/Project Management Consultants for future ROMD assets at stage of concept, preliminary detail design and tender submissions.

Requirements:

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include 10+ years of relevant experience partnered with a Bachelor of Engineering or relevant, from an accredited University or College program.

- Experience in engineering design within Highways and Roads industry.
- In-depth knowledge of operation and maintenance, and design activities.
- Knowledge of procurement and contract management.
- Current/valid Qatar Driving License would be an advantage.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in Arabic is preferred.
