Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Main Purpose of the Job:
The Design review manager will basically be tasked with reviewing all engineering drawings and design work as well as managing and coordinating all design review activities on a large water/wastewater project.

Key Responsibilities/Duties:
* Day to day management/coordination of all design review activities, including stakeholders in other locations
* Regular liaison with the client's representatives
* Discipline progress control and reporting to project leaders
* Responsible for budget control and reporting for all design review activities
* Identify and report any changes (variations)
* Monitor the project's progress and the allocation of resources to the design review team; initiate changes as required
* Draft and review the status and adequacy of the design review plan; ensure its continuing effectiveness.
* Identify and manage delivery of information required by the project teams and contractors from and monitor progress against agreed timelines
* Identify risks and opportunities associated with coordination and advise the project teams regularly.
* Ensuring the Mott MacDonald's best practices are implemented in an effective and economic manner
* Co-ordination with the engineering co-ordinator
* Lead design review and report on any recommendation that can aid with delivery and the project's financials
* Responsible for the distribution of engineering review tasks amongst the site supervision team

Requirements

* Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineer from an accredited university with a Professional Engineering Registration or Chartered Engineer status
* Minimum 20 years' demonstrable experience of which 10 years as a Manager/Technical Lead in design management
* Must have experience in managing, reviewing and approving design documents for large diameter tunnelling projects, multi-disciplinary project requirements for pumping stations, electrical substations, transformer and generator buildings etc
* Must be able to manage and review multi-disciplinary project inputs critically access the application of design criteria, check plans and specifications for accuracy of design and completeness
* Experience within a consultancy environment specifically within the marine industry
* Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language, with good report writing, analytical and computer skills
* Good keyboard skills and IT literacy (ideally Word, Excel and Access)
* Good organisational skills, accuracy and attention to detail
* Good interpersonal and communication skills
* Ability to work on own
