Job purpose

The digital tech lead is responsible for the technical leadership and delivery of digital products that meet internal customer needs and align with business objectives. This role involves designing and architecting software systems, guiding development teams, and ensuring high-quality, scalable, and secure digital solutions. The tech lead also drives innovation, fosters collaboration across disciplines, and ensures adherence to best practices and standards.

Key responsibilities

Technical leadership

Define and communicate the technical vision, roadmap, and standards for digital projects.

Design and architect software systems to meet functional and non-functional requirements.

Lead and mentor software developers, providing technical guidance and support.

Oversee development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software systems.

Review and approve code, documentation, and technical artifacts.

Monitor system performance, scalability, and reliability; propose improvements and optimizations.

Conduct research on emerging technologies and recommend innovative solutions.

Project support

Support up to 6 concurrent projects of varying complexity.

Make key technical decisions and manage risks, issues, and dependencies.

Coordinate across technical domains including:

Data management

Data science

Information security

Cloud infrastructure

Networking

Stakeholder collaboration

Work closely with product owners, project managers, business analysts, and internal customers to understand business needs.

Ensure ad-hoc coordination between business units, IS, and technology partners.

Facilitate meetings and ensure equal contribution from team members.

Act as a motivator and leader, proactively removing obstacles to team efficiency.

Agile delivery

Apply agile methodologies to ensure early and frequent value delivery.

Help stakeholders understand team workflows and interaction models.

Promote agile mindset and continuous improvement across teams.

Work environment

Based in Doha, Qatar (standard office hours, 5 days per week). Digital transformation is critical to extending operations beyond 2042 in a cost-effective manner.

Qualifications & experience

Education

Master of Science in Computer Science, Data Science, or Information Systems Management

Certifications

Mandatory: Azure certifications
Optional: Certified Scrum Practitioner (CSP), ITIL

Experience

Minimum 10 years in roles such as:

Tech lead

Full-stack developer

Backend developer

DevOps engineer

Experience in:

AI, machine learning, and data science projects

Oil & Gas industry

Industry data platforms (e.g., OSDU, Cognite Data Fusion)

Technical skills

Proficiency in:

Azure PaaS

Angular, React, Django

Kubernetes, GitHub, Python

CI/CD DevOps, Docker, Ansible, Terraform

Strong understanding of change management principles and tools

Soft skills

Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail

Strong communication and teamwork abilities

Ability to work independently

Fluent in English (spoken and written)
