Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Under the general guidance and supervision of the Cluster Director of Sales and within the limits of established Corporate/Sales policies and procedures, oversees and directs all aspects of the Sales activities. Responsibilities include overseeing the planning and development of promotional strategies; key role is to bring business to the resort with good occupancy and high yield. The Director of Sales - MICE will accomplish this through managing all the key accounts and all other sales activities. Promotes the work culture and the company's core values.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

- To maximize rooms revenue and profit through pro-active selling techniques and provide the highest standards of service levels
- To provide a point of contact for all inquiries and associated processes within unit from key sales, marketing and PR channels.
- To be the point of contact for all local and international operators in Qatar through.
- To develop and foster business through pro-active direct sales, marketing, telemarketing, direct mail, appointment calls and tours of the hotel.
- Develops strategic action plans for hotels to drive measurable, incremental sales revenue.
- Identify areas of opportunity in performance and recommend tools and sales training to optimize performance of sales team.
- Additionally, work with individual resort teams to identify skill development areas and properly deploy sales and marketing resources.
- Working closely with the General Manager, Director of Sales & Marketing, Cluster Director of Sales and Reservations & Revenue Team.
- Dealing with GNA MICE Accounts, GNA Corporate Groups and Global MICE Agencies
- Taking direct bookings
- Site inspections
- External callers
- Analyze current and potential market/trends, coordinates all activities to maintain and increase revenue through added business volume and increase rate
- Procure new and repeat business for the resort by monitoring contact with travel agencies, tour operators, airlines, commercial houses and professional associations with local and international markets.
- Attain contracting with key travel partners, wholesalers, planners, corporate accounts, incentive buyers through personal sales calls, telephone contacts and written communications
- Create and implement special programs to achieve greater productivity through:
- Increasing average rate
- Increasing occupancy
- Increasing business volume during low seasons
- Increasing events and weddings
- Manages key accounts
- Coordinate the development of all promotional materials
- Provide direction on the conducts market research
- Monitors competitive activities
- Ensures the resort is represented as an active member of the local community through association membership
- To plan and attend trade and road shows in key market areas
- Attends major travel functions to promote sales for the hotel
- Arrange familiarization trips and site inspection.
- Liaise with global sales representative
- Establish and continuous update database and mailing list
- Conduct weekly reviews of sales activity to ensure targets and sales objectives are being met
- Sales presentation update and training within Hotel when required
- Manage the Sales team and their performance

GENERAL DUTIES

Health and Safety

- Ensure that all potential and real Hazards are reported immediately and rectified
- Be fully conversant with all departmental Fire, Emergency and Bomb procedures
- Ensure that all emergency procedures are rehearsed, implemented and enforced to provide for the security and safety of guests and employees
- Ensure the safety of the persons and the property of all within the premises by fairly applying Hotel Regulations by strict adherence to existing laws, statutes etc.
- Ensure all staff within the department work in a manner which is safe and unlikely to give risk of harm or injury to selves or others
- Use safe manual handling techniques and practice safe work habits following Accor Health, Safety and Environment policies, maintain procedures to minimize our impact on the environment and prevent pollution.

Confidentiality

- Ensure confidentiality and secure storage of all intellectual property and data bases, both hard copy and electronic. Adhere to Accor Internet and Email policy
- Ensure Hotel, Customer and Staff information or transactions are kept confidential during or after employment with the company.

- Hotel standards of operation and departmental procedures

- Short and long term company marketing promotions
- Carries out additional tasks from time to time, by request of senior team members which may not be directly related to the job role but necessary for smooth operation of the resort

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

- College Diploma is essential
- Bachelor Degree is desirable
- Previous experience in luxury hotel/resort is essential
- Strong leadership, ability to train and motivate team.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills. Excellent communication and customer contact skills.
- Results and service oriented with an eye for details.
- Ability to multi-task, work well in stressful & high-pressure situations. A team player & builder and a motivator & self-starter.
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal relationship, and time management skills.
- Strong and outgoing personality and exceptional negotiation skills.
- Previous experience in Sales essential
- Previous experience in Marketing is desirable
- Fluency in English both spoken and written is essential
- Computer Literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook are essential
- Fidelio, Opera, CRM experience is desirable
- Exposure to Multi Task environment is desirable
- Exceptional in Numbers and Statistics is desirable
