Job description / Role
Electrical (Mechanical) related inspection of assets under Pumping Station Section. Decision making for the Operation & Maintenance activities, both Emergency & Preventive. Communicate information directly to the Engineer and implement instructions from the Engineer. Site supervision of O&M activities managing the Maintenance Team of Technicians & Labours under his scope of control. Data capture, recording & report on the maintenance activities using DNO&M systems.
• Carry out a planned maintenance programme of In-House Pump Stations
• Ensure that all equipment is assessed and service is done as recommended
• Carryout periodical checking of the assets and assess the condition of equipment and the operation
• Carry out site inspections on Outsourced Contractors to ensure all staff as per schedule & tools & tackles, equipment and materials are available for the maintenance activities
• Carry out site inspections on Outsourced Contractors work to ensure work is carried out in accordance with the maintenance schedules and tasks
• Record and report inspections and outcomes in appropriate format, using correct systems, procedures and processes- data entry in Maximo
• During inspections identify corrective actions and maintenance required and communicate to the contractor and engineers verbally and through Maximo
• Coordinate & attend any alerts, incidents or emergency O&M activities as per the information from the SCADA or any other sources
• Carry out site investigations into changes in assets performance to determine the root cause of the changes and report to the engineer
• As and when required carry out corrective actions on site to protect the assets and the environment or by instructing in-house teams or contractors to carry out the actions seeking the Engineers approval where required
• Manage the spare parts requirement, prepare the request for spares, and take delivery of the spares from the Stores for In-House pump stations
• Attend training sessions & train other technical staff on new equipment & systems
• Liaise with other parties engaged within the asset premises- Network Team, Rising Main etc.
• Represent Public Works Authority (PWA) confidently, professionally and courteously on site when engaging with others operating on PWA’s Pumping Station Assets
• Participate in a “out of hours” on-call for alert, incident and emergency maintenance requirements
• Provide Reports as required to support Engineers and Managers to take the appropriate action.
• Ensure adherence to Health and Safety Policy and Procedures and comply with any new work instructions
Requirements
• Holder of Technical Diploma with 3 to 5 years’ experience in Drainage Pumping Station
• Or, 2-Years Certificate Course with 8 to 10 Years’ experience in Drainage Pumping Stations
• Thorough knowledge of operation & maintenance Electrical (Mechanical) systems employed in Pumping Stations and general knowledge of Mechanical (Electrical) aspects of the pumping and other auxiliary systems
• Ability to complete documents and on-line forms in an accurate and timely manner
• Confident and curious to ensure all activity is investigated & works done and not just reported at face value
• Ability to work in a continuous change environment and comply with new processes and procedures as introduced
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in two languages (e.g. English, Arabic, and Hindi) preferred.
