Job description / Role
We are currently looking for a Environmental and Sustainability Engineer for our multi-billion dollar rail project in Doha, Qatar.
Reporting to the HSE Manager, the (ESE) will assist the HSE Manager to ensure implementation of all environmental and sustainable construction principles and sustainable design requirements across the project. The main responsibility is to ensure compliance with the Employer’s Requirements, whilst ensuring GSAS 4 Stars is achieved and Environmental requirements are met;
The ESE will assist the HSE Manager to manage implementation of GSAS Design and Construction as well as the Environmental requirements such as environmental permits. ESE works closely with Design and Construction teams to help develop a sustainable design and construction of Doha Metro Systems including Depot(s) and Stabling Yard(s).
To provide support to the HSE Manager, to ensure delivery of project in compliance with GSAS 4* requirements as well as environmental requirements.
This position is an essential function in the fulfillment of PMCS responsibilities during the design phases and substantive support function during construction. The position will be assisting the PMCS Environmental and HSE Manager to provide an environmentally friendly and sustainable design, construction and installations within the scope of Doha Metro System Package. E&S Engineer will work collaboratively with the HSE Manager and Client and Contractor to examine potential environmental issues and assist with monitoring implementations of environmental management plans, as well as embedment of principles of sustainable design and construction into project visa tools such as GSAS and beyond. E&S Engineer will assist PMCS Environmental and HSE Manager with implementation of procedures, audits, workshops, and interface with stakeholders on environmental and sustainability issues.
Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate
A good understating of change management and ability to assist with qualitative/quantitative cost-benefit analysis and option appraisal exercises.
Requirements
• BSc, BEng, BA or Equivalent
• Has total experience of more than 10 years, Has infrastructure experience of at least 5 years. Preferable Certified in a Sustainability Assessment System. Environmental/Sustainability Audit
• Excellent organisational skills
• Coordination
