Wood is actively seeking expressions of interest for a senior cost controller role to support future growth in our expanding business.

The projects team focuses on delivering across FEED, Pre-FEED, Brownfield, and Greenfield scopes of work. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of project work in accordance with the project execution plan, including Wood and/or project procedures on safety and quality control within the man-hour, cost, and project schedule targets.

This is a long-term assignment based in Qatar.

Responsibilities

The senior cost controller will be responsible for:

• Assisting in the development and maintenance of project work breakdown structure (WBS) and cost breakdown structure (CBS) for specific scopes.
• Assisting in the development of project budgets in accordance with the basis of estimate including statements of work scope, assumptions, man-hour estimates, narratives, and review & comment of client documents.
• Liaising with procurement, finance, and time-capture functions, and third parties as required, to support accurate and timely capture of procurement, materials, subcontract, and labour man-hour costs, allocating costs in accordance with approved project WBS.
• Liaising with engineering, procurement, and construction functions, and others as required, to maintain awareness of project activities and their impact on the project budget, schedule, and cost forecast.
• Supporting the project work approval process in terms of accurate cost code allocation and initial budget set-up and approvals.
• Assisting in the development and maintenance of project cost budgets using appropriate software applications.
• Monitoring cost commitments and expenditures through all phases of the project lifecycle.
• Providing input to project cost performance reports in accordance with project reporting requirements.
• Supporting the preparation of updates to project cost forecasts.
• Assisting in the monitoring and reporting on cost impact of project manpower forecasts.
• Assisting in the development of project change orders/variations in accordance with engineering and construction change notifications.
• Facilitating and communicating cost and schedule impact of change notifications.
• Monitoring overall project cost performance and contingency drawdown.
• Attending project meetings as required.
• Participating in the project cost close-out process.
• Attending cost & estimate risk analysis sessions as required.
• Participating in project controls compliance and continuous improvement reviews.

Experience:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical or business discipline (or equivalent gained through relevant vocational training and/or industry experience).

Knowledge, skills, and experience:

• Must have at least 15 years' experience.
• Good computer skills.
• Understanding of project management principles and techniques.
• Be a self-motivated, proactive individual with high achievement drive and initiative, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and good organizational awareness.
• Confidently deliver assigned scopes of work independently/remotely from technical leadership personnel, with minimal guidance and direction.
