Wood is actively seeking expressions of interest for a Senior Project Controller role to support future growth in our expanding business. The projects team focuses on delivering across FEED, Pre-FEED, Brownfield, and Greenfield scopes of work. In this role, you will be responsible for the execution of project work in accordance with the project execution plan, including Wood and/or project procedures on safety and quality control within the man-hour, cost, and project schedule targets.

This is a long-term assignment based in Qatar.

Responsibilities

The Senior Project Controller will be responsible for:

• Providing cost, planning, scheduling, and risk assessment support to Wood assignments/project teams and clients, typically on smaller projects without dedicated project control discipline teams.
• Running all required project controls systems and tools to enable the successful management and reporting of project costs, schedule, and risk on projects and specific assignments.
• Being one of the project/assignment focal points for all matters relating to project costs, schedules, and risk.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Liaising with the client and any contractor Project Controllers as appropriate, to ensure alignment with the project reporting requirements and ensure timely and accurate cost and progress reporting.
• Reporting of planned and actual progress figures.
• Facilitating the collection of weekly progress figures from the project team and any third-party contractors.
• Monitoring and reporting against the project critical path, providing early warning to the Project Manager of any potential slippages.
• Reporting of project costs and schedule data.
• Producing weekly and monthly project cost and planning status reports.
• Assisting in the development and maintenance of Project Work Breakdown Structure for specific scopes of work.
• Studying and understanding all relevant documents pertaining to the preparation of plans and schedules.
• Monitoring the project work approval process in terms of accurate cost code allocation and initial budget set-up and approvals.
• Monitoring and controlling cost commitments and expenditures through all phases of the project/assignment.
• Identifying slippages, significant float erosion, and raising to more senior team members with suggestions for recovery actions.
• Tracking of and input into the change management system.

Experience:

• Typically requires ISCED level 6 (Bachelor's) degree in a relevant technical or business discipline (or equivalent gained through relevant vocational training and/or industry experience).

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

• Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of progressive industry experience, with at least 4 years in project control positions.
• Experience of project planning software (MS Project/Primavera).
• Excellent Excel skills.
• Knowledge and application of earned value and other progress monitoring techniques.
• Knowledge of risk management processes and techniques.
• Ability to work well in a team and independently.
• Strong communication skills - both written and oral.
• Excellent customer service focus.
• Exceptional organizational and planning skills.
