Fire Engineer - RLN

Job description / Role

* Undertake Assurance and Validation reviews of the Contractors design submissions against the Employers Requirements at the detailed design stage to meet the project programme.
* Review & drive the Contractors submissions for fire protection plan and air conditioning / mechanical ventilation systems to Qatar Civil Defense.
* Review the coordination of services with MEP, Architecture and Civils/Structures.
* Review the coordination of services with the requirements of the Rail Systems Contractor.
* Partake in design & integration workshops with the Contractor to ensure high quality, timely design submissions.
* Provide Fire guidance to the Jacobs project team and the Client.
* Provide input & guidance to the Contractor as required relating to the design of Fire systems & selection of Fire equipment to meet the expected levels of technical excellence on a world class project.
* Provide technical support as required to the PMC Construction team.

Requirements

* Degree qualified in a related engineering discipline.
* Ideally Chartered Engineer status.
* A minimum of 10 years post graduate design experience.
* Experience of Qatar Civil Defense building submissions and processes in relation to fire systems & life safety provisions.
* Experience to include; Underground Metro / Rail and major transportation infrastructure projects.
* Experience of construction works along with testing and commissioning of fire equipment related to a Metro / Rail environment would be ideal.
* Familiar with the appropriate local, European and American codes & standards QCS, QCD, NFPA, EN, IEC, ANSI, etc and their application in the underground Metro environment.
* Although the rail systems form part of a separate contract, a "working knowledge" of rail systems such as tunnel ventilation, tunnel & train fire detection system etc. would be desirable.
* Experienced in Underground Metro / Rail systems.

* Ability to work collaboratively with Lead contractor, Designer, and Specialist suppliers.
