Qualifications & experience

We are looking for a fluids and cement superintendent for one of our clients with the following details:

Start date: ASAP (tentative date)
End date: 31-Aug-2027
Location: Doha, Qatar
Work status: Rotational (28 days on - 28 days off), single

Bachelor's degree (as a minimum) with excellent operational skills and substantial knowledge in fluid and cement in the oil field context with a minimum of 7 years' experience in offshore drilling operations.

Drilling and completion fluids as well as well cementing training certification from a reputable organization is required.

The job holder should have good working knowledge of internal and external rules, standards, and procedures in the fluids and environmental areas, and be trained to a level appropriate to statutory regulations.

The job holder should possess valid IWCF (surface), BOSIET, and H2S (OPITO) certifications.

Fluent spoken and written English is compulsory.

Activities

Work closely with drilling engineering and fluid & cement engineering in the well design and in preparation of the well operations;

Coordinate with service contractors in such areas as well planning, fluid & cement programs, operations, and logistics;

Provide on-site technical assistance when needed;

Ensure availability and fitness of all products, equipment, and personnel in a timely manner for fluids support of the drilling operations;

Ensure correct invoicing, cost evaluation, and update accordingly invoice database;

Manage daily drilling fluids, cement, and waste management operations in accordance with company standards and local laws;

Ensure a close follow-up of operations based on fluid & cement and waste management program;

Conduct technical analysis and operational reviews on challenges and/or non-conformances. Update operating procedures as required to prevent recurrence;

Contribute to improving skills and know-how, capturing lessons learnt;

Check and approve daily drilling and logistic operations programs, procedures, and daily reporting and debriefings;

Collaborate with fluids and cement engineering to promote and implement the use of new technology;

Manage the support from service contractors as per company standards;

Participate in the issuing of state-of-the-art documents, well programs, end of well reports, and optimization procedures;

Assist in the preparation of environment permits in accordance with existing Qatar environmental regulations;

Maintenance of chemical discharge and usage records and variations required during drilling operations.

Daily

Review daily operational reports to ensure compliance with program prerogatives and accuracy of information;

Participate in daily conference calls for designated operational units and provide technical support when needed;

Provide assistance to drilling superintendent in issues related to drilling fluids, cement, and solids control;

Maintenance of records in appropriate computer folders;

Liaise with external contractors' representatives for discussions of current operations and planning of immediate operations and ensure adherence to program and troubleshooting any issues in order to guarantee unremitting operations throughout the execution phase of a program;

Capture lessons learned and ensure key information is duly incorporated in successive operational programs.

When required

Participate in pre-spud meetings;

Offshore installation visits when required;

Participate in external meetings when required (i.e., contractors);

Participate in risk assessments, CTA, when required;

Technical audits to be done on a regular basis;

Participate in contractors QHSE audit when required.
