Our client, a major general contracting firm with diversified business interests within its holding group, has been awarded the project to develop a food processing production facility at the Doha Port for the extraction and processing of oil, rice, salt and sugar. This firm is responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of a major food processing and storage facility that is vital to the expansion and development of Doha. We are now consigned to recruit key start up roles for a Food Scientist in Doha Qatar. This role is responsible to apply scientific expertise and technological principles to the study of food products and processes within manufacturing and research settings.

This role will be responsible for the following:
• Evaluating the nutritional value, colour, flavor and texture of food specifically rice, oil, sugars and salt.
• Testing food samples for types of molds, yeast and bacteria that may be harmful as well as for quality.
• Ensuring that food manufacturing processes conform with government, processing, consumer and industry standards.
• Exploring alternative manufacturing methods.
• Producing new food products.
• Working closely with other food production staff including microbiologists, engineers, packaging specialists and buyers.
• Establishing low-cost wholesale food production methods.
• Investigating and setting standards for safety and quality.
• Provide accurate nutritional information for food labeling.
• Investigate ways to keep food fresh, safe and attractive.
• Find ways to save time and money in food making.

Requirements

• Degree in Food Science / Technology, Food/Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Nutrition, Microbiology or Chemistry or comparable is essential.
• 15 years’ experience in the food processing industry with 10 years’ experience in food science and food storage projects.
• Strong knowledge of a range of sciences and their applications to food.
• Good business, IT, analytical and numerical abilities.
• Meticulous attention to detail, particularly in relation to health, safety and hygiene.
• Good communication skills.
