Employment: Full Time

A new client to Irwin & Dow based in Doha, Qatar is seeking a Group CFO. This large organisation is one of Qatar’s leading private companies, having been established in the 1960s where it began as a small trading company. The founder is a well-known visionary entrepreneur in the region that has achieved success building a diverse business portfolio that is recognised on a local, regional and international level. The company has subsidiaries within property, hospitality, education and transport sectors amongst others and the role of CFO will be supporting the CEO & Chairperson at group level.

As the group CFO you will also be a key member of the Board and oversee all corporate finance, treasury, asset management and planning and budgeting. You will participate in the development of the corporation’s future acting as a strategic partner and financial expert within the company. Establishing credibility with the Board through accurate and timely analysis of all budgets, forecasting and financial trends to the CEO and President will also be a key aspect to this strategic CFO role.

The successful incumbent will strive to enhance and develop financial improvements and policies to maintain tight control and effectiveness of all finance functions across the corporation and you will work closely with the subsidiary CFOs to ensure this is well adhered to at all times. Providing leadership on decision making issues affecting the organisation and its risks and evaluating potential alliances regarding mergers and acquisitions, the successful Group CFO will strive to continually improving the overall profitability of the organisation.

Additional responsibilities will also include the management of relationships with financial institutions and leadership of the M&A group team. Therefore a strong people manager is required as the Group CFO will also champion those individuals capable of development and growth and emphasis opportunities where possible for future succession plans as the organisation grows.

Requirements

The successful candidate for the Group CFO role must have a strong finance career of 10 years plus, 5-7 years of which will be at a Senior Financial Controller or CFO level. It is also essential that you possess an accountancy qualification of CIMA, CPA or equivalent and be educated to Masters standard. Fluency in the Arabic language is also essential and exposure to a large, diverse organisation with many different subsidiaries is a distinct advantage.
