Group Director Traffic & Transportation (Global Sports Event Qatar 2022 - Accommodation Services) (fixed term contract until January 2023)

What you will be doing:

- Keeps the Group Director of Operations informed of all transportation-related matters
- Implement a strategy for the project's traffic and transportation activities with up to 600 vehicles
- Lead and coordinated 14 team members within the Traffic & Transportation department
- Directs activities related to dispatching, routing, and tracking of all vehicles
- Monitors traffic systems and informs about re-routing during road closures
- Deals with all engaged transportation service providers (drivers and vehicles)
- Overseas and controls the daily running of the Traffic & Transportation department
- Monitors the transportation tracking system
- Controls the department's budgets
- Maintains a good relationship with all relevant departments
- Overseas standards of operation, training and quality
- Ensures that policies and procedures are followed
- Monitors the regular inspection of all vehicles and conducts safety audits
- Collaborates with relevant departments to implement transportation-related procedures
- Ensures that all drivers and operators have the valid, correct and up to date qualifications
- Monitors the risk reduction of overloading vehicles
- Monitors repairs and routine maintenance of vehicles

Requirements

Your experience and skills include:

- At least 6 years of experience in the traffic and transportation sector, preferably in the Middle East
- At least 3 years of experience in a similar position in a large-scale environment
- Fluent in English (spoken and written), any additional language is a plus
- Very strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving abilities
- Strategic and creative approach
- Highly responsible & reliable
- A hands-on approach is essential
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Proven ability to build and maintain good relationships with all stakeholders
- Confident with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- Multicultural awareness and able to work with people from diverse cultures
- Flexible and able to embrace and respond to change effectively
- Ability to work independently and has good initiative under dynamic environment
- Self-motivated and energetic
