Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

• Performing hair cutting, coloring, styling and grooming tasks. Providing consultation to client, selecting equipment and products for the salon and service provision.
• Welcome clients as they arrive in the salon and engage them in conversation to determine their needs
• Provide suggestions to clients regarding current hair styles and popular trends
• Answer clients’ questions regarding hair care products
• Inquire from clients about hair care preferences and suggest appropriate resolutions to hair and scalp issues
• Cut, color and style hair according to clients’ instructions
• Creating hair styles for formal events
• Demonstrating and selling styling products
• Learning and perfecting new styles and techniques
• Ensure that all combs and scissors are cleaned and sanitized after use
• Schedule appointments and maintain records of work performed on each client
• Assume responsibility for the upkeep and cleanliness of work stations
• Perform up-selling services by suggesting retail products placed at the salon
• Ensure that sufficient items such as clean wrap sheets and towels are available on an ongoing basis
• Be on time on your shift, prompt with each appointment and perform services within the appropriate time allotted for the service
• Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of product to assist with cost controls
• Have complete knowledge and understanding of all services and products offered
• Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the salon’s policies and procedures
• Perform prep work, properly clean and restock room as required
• Communicate to management any and all occurrences involving staff or guests in the salon that require attention
• Actively promote the salon treatments and retail product, as well as packages and promotions
• Handle guests’ questions and concerns professionally and courteously
• Possess the ability to work with and without direct supervision
• Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment

Health Safety & Security
• To make note of any maintenance issues and report to Salon Manager
• To ensure that work station and tools are sanitized

General

• Perform other tasks at the level of the role as directed by your line manager in pursuit of the achievement of business goals.
• Ability to work as part of a diverse team with colleagues from different viewpoints, cultures and countries.

Requirements

Requirement:
• Must have a license or certification after graduating from an approved program
• Must possess knowledge of the chemical composition and properties of the substances they use and the chemical processes the substances may undergo during various hair treatments (i.e., understanding chemical reactions, production techniques, and disposal methods)
• Must have 2 years of experience in a professional hair salon
