Role Description:
Provide overall leadership, Guidance and management of the health and safety (HS) across the project to ensure the Health & Safety and wellbeing of all operatives in accordance with all contracted and Legislative requirements.

Responsibilities:
• Making environment, health and safety your highest priority and first in all business reviews and decisions.
• Leading by example and speaking up when at risk situations or conditions are observed
• Reporting all incidents of injury, near miss, potential for environmental harm; plant damage or other adverse conditions or outcomes not later than 24 hours after the incident.
• Undertake environment, health and safety duties as directed by the Project Director consistent with the client's operating procedures.
• Manage compliance with client's, health and safety and related compliance with legislation; codes of practice/compliance standards and client's Building HS objectives and targets.
• Achieve annual HS objectives and targets consistent with those outlines by client's objectives and targets.
• Implement the client's Health & Safety related policies, procedures, guidelines and work practices consistent with the client's vision of incident and injury free workplaces.
• Provide technical and other HS support to projects including; learning and development; impacts and hazards risk register; project HS management plans; means and methods or equivalent standards; compliance with global minimum requirements and other related HS matters
• Undertake review and endorsement of project HS Management Plans including related impacts and hazard risk assessments, emergency, environment plans and agreed project/workplace consultative arrangements.
• Implement an engagement plan to assist with motivating, inspiring, leading and mentoring the Project team including site based project HS personnel to facilitate the achievement of positive team dynamics, morale and leading HS performance management outcomes
• Disseminate and implement the requirements of alerts, lessons learnt and other information provided by the Head Office service function for HS.
• Monitor legislative change relevant to the region and facilitate dissemination of this information through monthly reporting and other project and consultative arrangements
• In consultation with the Project Director undertake periodic review of HS resources to maintain adequate HS capability and performance outcomes for the Regional Business Unit.
• Provide functional support, guidance and assistance to project teams to ensure clarity of HS requirements across all contractors and third parties to support the effective management of HS risks across contractor and service provider workforces.
• Facilitate the implementation of processes to ensure that all activities are planned and managed in a manner that eliminates or reduces associated HS risks and that documented HS requirements are clearly communicated to frontline workers.
• Ensure that the analysis of risk and the implementation of effective control measures are undertaken consistently across all projects and related RBU workplaces.

Requirements

• Hold and maintain qualifications and related competency consistent with the role and its requirements
• Attained a NEBOSH International or General Certificate
• Attained or working towards Professional Membership with a relevant body e.g. IOSH
• Attained a degree, preferably in a technical discipline
• Attained Registered Lead Auditor (18001 / 14001) qualification
• Attained a recognized Accident Incident Investigation qualification
• Minimum of 20 years’ experience in a H&S role
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a H&S management role
• Worked within the construction industry with experience of Major Infrastructure, Rail and/or Heavy Civil, MEP and Finishes and Fitout.
• Expertise in the review and comment on H&S related Plans, Procedures, Method Statements, Risk Assessments, Incident Reports etc.
• Ability to undertake inspections and audits and assess HSSE performance to identify areas for improvement.
• Collation, Analysis and Presentation of H&S data on a weekly and monthly basis and be able to explain any trending/concerns to Project Director level
• Production of bespoke H&S Plans, Procedures, Guidance and Training Materials to meet Corporate, Client and Project requirements
• Strong knowledge and experience of relevant legislation, engineering and construction codes and standards
• Effective communication skills including the ability to make persuasive presentations to both small and large audience
• Strong negotiating and influencing skills including ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization
• Fluent in written and spoken English language with additional good skills in dealing with multi lingual
