In a pioneering international initiative, Weill Cornell Medicine (WCM) established Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar (WCM-Q) with the sponsorship of the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development. WCM-Q offers two years of premedical studies, designed to prepare students for entry into the four years of medical curriculum. Located in Doha, Qatar, WCM-Q is in its 14th year of operation and is seeking a candidate for Institutional Review Board Manager.

The IRB Manager’s primary responsibility is to manage the protocol review process, identify issues and independently determine whether the components of the proposed research are in compliance with federal, local regulations and WCMQ policies.

The IRB Manager will also be responsible for managing all the IRB activities, conducting preliminary review of submissions to the IRB, communicating deficiencies to investigators and ensure that the identified deficiencies are addressed adequately prior to review the provision. Analyse and apply relevant regulations, policies and SOPs to ensure meeting the regulatory requirements in reviewing research protocols. Liaise between the IRB and the investigators and supervise the daily operation of IRB coordinators.

Provide training and orientation to IRB coordinators and the research community, oversee the preparation for IRB meetings and attend them to advise on applicable regulations & institutional policies as well as maintaining IRB study related documentations in accordance with WCMQ policies, IRB policies, Federal & Qatari regulations.

Requirements

The successful candidate will hold a minimum of a BA/BS degree (Master’s degree is preferred). S/he, - should have a minimum of five years’ progressive experience in management of an IRB. Should have comprehensive knowledge of Federal regulations, ICH-GCP guidelines and ethical principles regarding human subjects in research, demonstrated understanding of research procedures terminology, medical terminology, clinical trials, and research data management.

Experience with configuration and use of IRB or research administration software, AAHRPP accreditation process for human research protection programs would be an asset.

Candidates must be willing to relocate to Doha, Qatar for the duration of the appointment. Compensation will include a competitive salary with supplement for Foreign Service, housing and transportation.
