Responsibilities

Our newest opportunity is for a talented IT Application Manager, seconded to our client from the government sector in Doha, Qatar.

This role is responsible for managing and administering the current and new application landscape for our client.

We envisage success in this role to include:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of critical software applications.
  • Ensuring applications are running efficiently and meet business requirements.
  • Planning and executing software updates, patches, and upgrades.
  • Leading application-related projects, including new implementations, upgrades, and integrations.
  • Developing project plans, setting timelines, and ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget.
  • Managing a team of application support specialists and developers.
  • Assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing guidance on technical issues.
  • Liaising with software vendors and service providers to ensure proper support.
  • Negotiating contracts and managing service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Collaborating with business stakeholders to gather requirements and prioritize application enhancements.
  • Monitoring and budget preparation for operational and new initiatives in coordination with finance.
  • Monitoring application performance and troubleshooting issues.
  • Resolving complex technical problems and ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Maintaining comprehensive documentation of application configurations, processes, and user manuals.
  • Providing regular reports on application performance, usage, and issues to senior management.
  • Implementing preventive measures and proposing long-term solutions.

Qualifications

To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include a minimum of 10 years' experience in the IT field partnered with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems or a related field, including five to seven years of the required experience in managing enterprise applications and staff of a small or medium-sized software/applications environment.

  • Understanding and practical skills in managing the SDLC.
  • Strong experience in Oracle E-Business Suite, ERP, Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Azure Cloud, other hyperscaler capabilities, Document Management System, CRM, Mobile Applications, Business Intelligence, AI/Gen AI capabilities and others.
  • Experience of business process improvements aligned to support IT implementations.
  • Experience in managing IT business applications in railway (preferred).
  • Knowledge of current trends in the specific field including, but not limited to, cloud capabilities, Microsoft Power Apps, AI/Gen AI capabilities.
  • Knowledge of information technology applications, processes, software, and equipment.
