Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The Legal Counsel will provide legal services in the Corporate Affairs Division and support the Corporate Affairs Associate General Counsel in ensuring that the organisation legal activities meet best practices.

Key responsibilities
• Serve as the source of legal advice within the Corporate Affairs Division and ensure legal compliance in all aspects of the business with local, regional and international laws as required.
• Support maintenance of legal standards, policies and processes across Corporate Affairs Division and ensure proper implementation, follow up and resolution of all legal matters and issues as per established standards.
• Deliver legal services to the organization in a timely manner and to international standards.
• Align legal capability with business requirements.
• Support the General Counsel in performing relevant legal risk assessments that may face the organization and proactively develop legal risk mitigation plans, as required.
• Support management oversight for external specialized legal resources to deliver value-added legal support.
• Ensure accurate and appropriate maintenance of legal records and documentation.
• Ensure the Corporate Affairs Division is provided with accurate, relevant information and assistance necessary to meet budgetary and financial goals.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Corporate Affairs Associate General Counsel and/or the General Counsel directly related or relevant to the job.

• In full compliance with the safety and security rules and requirements; and
• In line with any standards and objectives designated in the Employee Performance Management system

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in law and preferably a second degree (Masters or J.D. if Bachelors in non-legal discipline )
• Certified as a law practitioner in at least 1 major jurisdiction
• A mid-level lawyer (3-6 years) specialized in Corporate Affairs with experience in international and regional projects, preferably with Qatar experience
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Excellent writing skills in English & Arabic
• Good analytical and organizational skills
• High attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through
• Strong problem-solving abilities
• Flexibility and a related ability to work autonomously
• A team player willing to work on tight timelines
• A positive attitude, patience and persistence
