Charterhouse is working with a leading bank in Qatar who is looking to hire an experienced, bilingual (Arabic and English) Legal Manager to manage the legal department. Reporting direct to the CEO you will take the lead role in advising the BODs, CEO and management and Executive Committees regarding all legal issues as well as regulations that will impact the operations, commercial and financial position of the bank.

Your responsibilities will include working with the business and other support functions to assess the vulnerability of the banks business ventures, products and services to existing or future legal challenges. Your core accountabilities include setting of legal policies, managing legal risks, litigation and legal contracts, divisional cost and budget control, divisional continuous improvement and ensuring the effectiveness of the legal department is aligned with the corporate strategy and in line with local laws.

Requirements

The successful candidate should have a minimum of 11 years PQE and 5-6 years within a reputable bank in the GCC. You should possess strong knowledge of banking laws and be fluent in Arabic and English and an LLM or MBA is an advantage.
