Position Summary

As a core member of the library management team, the Manager, Information Services will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Reading Room and the collaborative planning and implementation of next generation library services.

Job Responsibilities

• Manages IS team members, providing guidance on work distribution and processes.
• Conducts performance appraisals, mentoring, training and staff recruitment.
• Manages core team activities such as outreach and liaison activities, research consultations, teaching and systematic reviews. Participates where required.
• Manages the process of identifying and coordinating training and professional development activities tied to current and future library services.
• Establishes and monitors team best practices and assessment measures to ensure service quality.
• Builds and sustains a team oriented approach to services, workflows, and projects as appropriate.
• Manages select collection development activities among library liaisons.
• Works with the Director and other library managers to create and revise new policies and procedures as appropriate.
• Participates in long-term departmental planning and the development of reports as needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education
• Master's Degree

Experience
• A Master’s Degree from an ALA accredited library science program or international equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years previous supervisory or management experience.
• Experience teaching information literacy, evidence-based practice, or similar content.
• Familiarity with systematic reviews, critical pathways, or guideline development and data management practices and strategies.
• Previous experience in a health sciences library or health related field desirable.
• Familiarity with health literacy, trends in medical education, scientific publishing or similar topics an advantage.
• Have participated in the development of information tools or similar projects preferred.
• Experience with change management desirable.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands
• This position may occasionally require evening or weekend hours.
