Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

• To offer high quality and appropriate teaching support to all children receiving Learning Support (LS).
• To effectively manage Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
• For all children receiving additional support for their learning and Individual Behavior Plans (IBPs) where necessary.
• To ensure IEPs and IBPs are reviewed termly and realistic but challenging targets are set on order to enable further progress to be made.
• To work closely with class teachers.
• To work closely with parents for the benefit of their children, arranging regular meetings and case conferences as required.
• To assist parents with school transfer if necessary by offering help, support and advice.
• To work in partnership with the Year Leaders and Assistant Headteachers to ensure children meeting the criteria for various levels of support are assessed promptly and action taken as necessary.
• To liaise on a regular basis with other Learning Support staff to ensure the smooth running of the department.
• To assist the SENCO with assessment of new children who may be in need of additional support.
• To follow the guidelines as set out in the LS procedures for the school.
• To assist the Senior Leadership Team in ensuring all children can fully access the curriculum.
• To ensure school policies are adhered to and that planning is in line with NC and National Strategies.
• To assist the Headteacher, Deputy Head and Assistant Headteachers in managing the admission of pupils to the school.
• To assist with Assessment and Reporting across the school and to liaise with the coordinators as necessary in order to improve tracking and target setting.
• Together with the SENCO, provide an accurate Learning Support register for the school.
• To ensure that there is a smooth transition between the key stages by regular communication
• Undertake structured and agreed learning activities/teaching programmes, adjusting activities
• According to pupil responses
• Support the use of ICT in learning activities and develop pupils’ competence and independence in its use contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school.
• To keep up to date with Educational issues.

• Qualifications: Subject Degree and / or PGCE
• Experience: At least 2 years of experience
