About the role

Company is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented process designer to join our team in Qatar. This role involves the development of engineering drawings and design documentation to support project execution across various sectors. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in engineering principles, proficiency in CAD tools, and the ability to translate technical specifications into practical design solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare detailed working drawings in compliance with company and industry standards and codes.
• Develop plans, layouts, calculations, and bills of materials to support engineering deliverables.
• Execute design assignments using a variety of procedures and techniques.
• Conduct site visits and surveys, and contribute to site visit reports.
• Record observations, perform calculations, and compile technical reports.
• Create detailed drawings from rough sketches, applying engineering principles and intricate calculations.
• Establish and monitor drafting standards for projects.
• Identify cost-effective solutions to design challenges.
• Assist in bid evaluations and technical assessments.
• Design and construct models, prototypes, and equipment; compile and evaluate data to support recommendations.
• Estimate time, materials, quantities, and labor for testing, installation, manufacturing, and construction activities.
• Generate bills of materials from finalized designs.
• At senior levels, coordinate small projects and prepare specifications for complex equipment and processes.
• Ensure quality and technical accuracy in design outputs, including reviewing work of others.
• Plan and manage assigned tasks effectively, liaising with project teams and line managers to meet deadlines and control man-hours.

Qualifications

Minimum ISCED Level 5 short-cycle tertiary education in an engineering discipline.

Skills & experience

• Comprehensive understanding of materials and methods used in process design.
• Solid grasp of engineering principles and practices, supported by training and diversified field experience.
• Ability to interpret engineering standards, piping material specifications, P&IDs, and line lists.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills.
• Proficient in translating conceptual ideas into practical design plans.
• Competent user of CAD/D software.
