Project Engineer - Qatar - with full support to becoming a PM

Our client are a reputable mid-tier contractor with more than 40 years’ experience operating across Qatar, they predominantly specialize in Civil Infrastructure projects and have long standing relationships with some of the leading developers and government organizations. They are now seeking a Project Engineer to work in conjunction with the Senior Project Manager to oversee one of the region’s largest infrastructure project. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate looking to progress their career.

- Support Project Manager in all engineering aspects of the project
- Assist Project Manager in the development of work preparation schedule and ensure resources, project schedule and contract strategies are appropriate.
- Prepare a list of deliverables to the Project Plan
- Ensure work packages are prepared, reviewed and discussed with the Construction Manager
- Prepare procurement schedule in liaison with the Project Manager and ensure adequate tracking of materials and reconciliation during and after execution of the project.
- Coordinate construction activities at site and manage the activities of the Planning Engineer, Site Engineers, Draftsmen, Surveyors and material collector
- Ensure timely review as appropriate on all clients technical documentation
- Liaise with project planner on changes to overall project schedule and alert project management of potential schedule risks.
- Keep the project team informed on all relevant aspects of engineering issues that arise on the project.
- Identify risks and dangers (general and HSE) and prepare job safety analysis and lifting plans.
- Maintain IT set up at site and provide assistance as required.
- Ensure handover of systems is planned and managed efficiently and all documentation is in place to effect final closeout

Requirements

Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree Civil Engineering
- Minimum 8 years of experience working for a leading contractor
- Previous experience working on infrastructure projects (roads, highways, utilities, etc.)
- Experience working on a project in excess of QAR 300 million
- Previous experience working in the Middle East
