Established in 2001 as a partnership between Cornell University and Qatar Foundation, WCM-Q is part of Weill Cornell Medicine in New York. WCM-Q, the first medical school in Qatar and a pioneer of coeducation at University level, for 17 years of operation, we have been providing the finest education for medical students, conducting cutting-edge research, improving health care and provide the highest quality of care to the community. We are hiring for the position of Psychologist – Learning Support Specialist.

The work and what it looks like

You will play an integral role in the Student Affairs division, promoting the personal and professional health and wellbeing of students at WCM-Q by providing confidential student psychological assessment and treatment services, including crisis intervention, relationship, learning difficulties, mood disorders, professionalism, assessing and/or monitoring existing mental health conditions. In collaboration with WCM-Q Faculty and staff, the affiliate partners, you will develop, implement and evaluate student programs and services to promote student development, learning, and wellness, monitor student adjustment, mental health, and learning difficulties. You will also conduct academic skills assessments and coordinate appropriate assistance for students with specific learning needs, Collaborate with Wellness and Activities Coordinators in developing, implementing, and evaluating programs that promote student health and wellness, Consult with and provide a timely referral to other professional staff as appropriate. You will also assist with the development and maintenance of the Student Affairs Policies & Procedures, ensuring compliance and consistency in own area of operations; proposing and implementing procedures to ensure office efficiency.

Requirements

Who you are and what “Excellence” looks like in this role

You hold a Master’s degree in clinical or counselling psychology, with at least 5 years of experience in Higher education student assessment and counselling. Candidates in the field of clinical psychology, wellbeing practitioners, senior social workers and medical professionals will also be considered. You have previously demonstrated the ability to work effectively with diverse populations and cultures, and proficiency in written and spoken English. Prior experience in an international academic healthcare environment, and working with titanium for record keeping are highly desirable.

Candidates must be willing to relocate to Doha, Qatar for the duration of the appointment. Compensation will include a competitive salary with a supplement for Foreign Service, housing and transportation.
