Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The Materials Engineer is responsible for the quality management of materials and equipment for the Project.

Principal Accountability & Responsibility:
- Project-wide role – ensures that the materials and equipment submittals procedure is properly documented, implemented, monitored and fully comply to the Project Requirements and QMS
- Lead a team of materials inspectors, ensuring that Hold and Control Points are implemented concerning materials receiving, inspection, acceptance or rejection throughout all the phases of the Project
- Key role in assisting the Quality Manager in the technical review and assessment of materials and equipment submittals
- Validation of materials and equipment status on site
- Directly assists the Quality Manager for analysis, consolidation and presentation of Project Key Performance Indicators specific to materials control and conformance
- Participate in prequalification audits, factory audits and internal audits as requested
- Provide technical support regarding the materials/equipment status to the Project
- Able to spot any issues or nonconformance that could potentially have an upstream effect which needs the attention of the Quality Manager
- Ensure, through continuous monitoring and surveillance, that the calibration of any material, device or equipment is current. Carries out the corresponding actions if any calibration is outdated.
- Through regular intervals, he/she maintain a general register of calibrations. This is achieved by collecting the calibration registers from all subcontractors or suppliers, ensuring that the calibration status is up-to-date and required certificates are available and traceable.
- Request the intervention of the Quality Manager in the event of difficulties encountered in implementing the QA/QC System
- Through continuous monitoring, ensures that the completeness and traceability of materials inspection records

Autonomy / Responsibility:
- Supervisory position, leadership role in his/her team
- Coordinate and disseminate instructions from the Quality Manager to his/her team
- Project-wide functional position, leadership and analytical role
- Work with the Quality Manager and with the Section QC Managers
- Interface with other departments as required by the Quality Manager
- Must be capable of taking over part of the administrative scope in the absence of the Section QC Manager as required

- Material Submittal Forms (MAF)
- Materials / equipment database
- Materials / equipment monitoring charts and graphs
- Materials / equipment analysis, assessments and KPIs
- Materials / equipment inspection records
- Materials / equipment quality reports
- Test reports and register
- Calibrations register
- Provision of key information or documentation to the Section Managers as delegated by the Quality Manager
- Quality Record Package (key member of the team)
- As-built Record Package (key member of the team)

Requirements

- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma, preferably in Engineering
- Minimum 5 years on leading a team or a specialist role, experience in large-scale projects an advantage
- Background in MEP, Civil Construction, Architectural or Oil & Gas Industries is a must

Key Skills and Knowledge:
- Direct hands-on experience in the specific line of work, implementation of QAQC process
- Leadership skills, systematic, able to carry out tasks with minimum supervision, the ability to work under pressure.
- High communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluent in English is a must (written & spoken). French, Tagalog, Hindi & Arabic are advantageous.

- MS Office proficiency
