Quality Control Material Testing Inspector

Job description / Role

Duties and Responsibilities:

• The Quality Control Material Testing Inspector under general supervision, performs difficult and sometimes complex inspection tasks.
• Inspects various facets of work on the construction site and performs continuous surveillance of assigned construction activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
• Documents non-conformance and may participate in determining appropriate resolution.
• Have full awareness of testing requirements.
• Check material submissions and properly process approvals.
• Visit factories to ensure proper manufacture and testing of materials produced.
• Ensure materials delivered are as approved and are properly stored.
• Assist in the development of testing procedures.
• Keep up-to-date with new appropriate materials.

Requirements

Experience and Qualifications:

• Degree in Civil Engineering with minimum seven (7) years relevant experience in laboratory materials testing including field inspection of samples and materials, familiarity with all asphalt concrete and soil materials used in major highway and infrastructure projects.
• Must possess the ability to read working drawings and related specifications, inspection and test plans and method statements and be capable of enforcing such specifications and contract drawings.
• Computer literacy and excellent communication skills are essential.
