Job description / Role
Quantity Surveyor (Transportation industry) – Qatar
Linum Consult’s client is major consultancy operating in the Middle East. Due to continued growth, they are currently seeking a Quantity Surveyor with a background in the Transportation/Infrastructure industry to join their team in Qatar. This is a client-side role.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supporting the commercial management team in the administration of all cost management and reporting requirements on specific projects/sections of work
• Ensuring accuracy of all monthly applications including assessments of all variations for accuracy in time and cost analysis
• Preparing and monitoring the contractors’ project cash flow forecasts
• Measuring, valuing, and negotiating contract variations as directed by the Commercial Manager
• Providing assistance in the drafting and reviewing of project correspondence
• Ensuring that commercial processes are adhered to at project level
• Monitoring indices for fluctuations in core materials identified in the contract
• Preparing presentations for delivery to senior management reflecting financial status
• Managing budgets and approving the accuracy of applications for expenditure of provisional sums
Requirements
• At least a Bachelor’s degree qualification in Quantity Surveying or Cost Management, with a Chartered Membership to either RICS or CIOB
• At least 8 years’ experience in heavy civil construction projects
• Must have excellent experience of managing the cost in engineering functions, including cost estimating, control, and analysis, with the ability to monitor payment schedules against the milestone programme
• Working knowledge of FIDIC contracts and management of key contract clauses
• Ideally have previous experience of working in the Middle East
