Rail Safety Manager

Job description / Role

CLIENT
Linum Consult’s client operates out of the Middle East. Due to continued growth, they are currently seeking a Rail Safety Manager to join their team in Qatar.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supporting the company’s network-wide railway safety & regulations function within the Service Delivery division
• Supporting plans & procedures which are relevant to the Safety Certification of the rail network
• Meeting KPIs and division objectives as agreed by the Director of Rail Safety
• Providing expert functional safety support within the company
• Reviewing and commenting on the contractors’ plans & procedures deliverables
• Assisting stakeholders, engineering and project management teams in their understanding of the system certification challenges and ensuring their safety targets are met
• Developing and running the Hazard Analysis workshops, project design reviews, safety design reviews and other system assurance activities as required
• Helping to set up the framework and processes for the monitoring of findings from accident investigations
• Interfacing with railway regulation experts both within and outside the company.

Requirements

PROFILE
• Bachelor or Master’s degree qualification in Engineering or a railway-related subject
• At least 10 years’ experience within the rail industry, managing the functional safety and safety approvals of large railway networks.
• Excellent technical knowledge of risk management methods: EN5012X, and functional safety analytical techniques: IEC 61508 and EN5012X
• Experience of testing, commissioning, and RAMS management
• Previously obtained certification for a rail network to be brought into service
• Excellent communication skills, with a strong ability to build relationships with influential people at all levels within and outside the organisation
• Strong analytical skills, with an assertive personality to determine the proper course of action without jeopardizing human safety.
