RAMS / System Rail Engineer

Job description / Role

• Review the Contractor System’s Assurance deliverables and all updates for compliance against Systems Assurance Plan, Systems Safety Plan, Testing & Commissioning Plan and Operation & Maintenance Plan and shall report to the Engineer whether the deliverables are fit for purpose, or make recommendations for improvement.
• Acceptance/ Rejection of Design & Build Hazard Logs and System Hazard Logs.
• Hazard & Operability Studies (HAZOP) related to operational activities.
• Any other task assigned in relation with the Safety Case and relate recommendation
• Manage the Safety Demonstration Process
• Supervise, manage the progress and provide support to the contractors in building their safety cases, for infrastructure and rail systems, in compliance with their respective contracts
• Review RAM and Safety documentation and analyses produced by the System Contractors and its subcontractors, in accordance with contracts’ requirements and project lifecycle. Ensure that the Contractors meet the Contractual performance requirements.
• Review the Fire & Life Safety analyses and required deliverable.
• Responsible for reviewing the safety submissions, safety requirements and the implemented design solutions.
• Responsible for reviewing the performance and availability deliverable, RAM requirements and their integration with Safety solutions.
• Control the system assurance tasks during the contract life cycle in order to ensure that the System is operable and fit for purpose, that the System operation and functional requirements are fully delivered and realized, that risks to the riding public, employees and property are minimize and that the reliability availability and maintainability targets are achieved.

Requirements

• BSc, BEng, BA or Equivalent
• Has total experience of 10+ years
• Has railway experience of at least 5 years.
• Proven experience in producing system and subsystem hazard and RAM analysis.
• Proven knowledge of Risk Management process, including RAMS.
• Previously has produced RAM documentation, including but not exhaustive: QRA, OSHA, SSHA, ISHA, RAM calculation, RAM Demonstration report
• Previously has written HAZOP or D&B Hazard Log.
