Doha College offers a well-balanced all-embracing curriculum and has students from various cultural backgrounds. We follow a dynamic teaching programme based on the National Curriculum of England, tailored to the needs of our international student body. The School Counsellor contributes to the care, guidance and support of young people and promotes well-being to the wider school community. They operate within the codes of practice recommended by the BACP, UKCP or equivalent whilst working within the boundaries of Doha College’s and regional safeguarding policies and procedures.

We are looking to appoint an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic School Counsellor. The ideal candidate should have awareness of a range of needs of people from diverse ethnic, cultural and social backgrounds including the challenges faced by expatriate communities. Working knowledge of safeguarding in schools is essential.

As a School Counsellor, you will be responsible for taking an active role in promoting a positive health and safety culture in college. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with the college's Health and Safety, Information Security, and Safeguarding policies and support the college’s Personal Health and Social Education (PHSE) programme. Where appropriate you will also be asked to devise and deliver student programmes, parent’s information sessions and staff CPD. You will also work closely with the Vice Principal (Student Services), Key Stage Leaders, Heads of Year, College Nurses and Form Tutors to provide consultation on matters involving Pastoral Care and the well-being of the students.

Requirements

- The ability to plan and prioritise work on a day to day basis and respond flexibly to changing demands and circumstances.
- A keen interest to further development of the counselling service at college working with individuals and/or groups of learners.
- The ability to develop, train and monitor the college’s Student Mentoring Programme.
- Qualifications such as Post-graduate Diploma /Masters level in Counselling or Psychotherapy/therapeutic training qualification or similar and hold current BACP Accreditation or equivalent will be an advantage.
