OVERVIEW

In-Q Enterprises, the commercial arm of Qatar Museums (QM), is seeking a Senior Buyer to support its exciting growth plans. QM is a respected cultural leader with a global view and outreach. QM connects the museums, cultural institutions and heritage sites in Qatar including the I.M. Pei-designed Museum of Islamic Art, Mathaf : Arab Museum of Modern Art, the Al-Zubarah UNESCO World Heritage Site and the Fire Station: Artists in Residence art hub. Future projects include the launch of the highly anticipated National Museum of Qatar and the 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum.

In-Q Enterprises is the business face of Qatar Museums, a wholly-owned subsidiary trading primarily in the retail and food & beverage/hospitality sectors.

JOB SCOPE AND ATTRIBUTES

The Senior Buyer is responsible for sourcing and selecting merchandise to support a wide range of retail demands including the Museum of Islamic Art's gift shop, the broader merchandise needs of the museum shop at Doha’s Hamad International Airport, the local cultural focus of the National Museum’s two retail outlets, the merchandise needs of visiting temporary exhibitions, a nascent e-shop project and the art supplies specialization of the Cass Art franchise.

This buying role forms part of a buying and merchandise planning team reporting to the Director of Retails Operation & Merchandising. The role requires engagement with diverse suppliers, sourcing high-quality products that meet demand and (in the case of gift items and souvenirs) demonstrate originality, freshness, and authenticity.

Requirements

An experienced candidate is sought with strong negotiation and communication skills, excellent planning and coordination, an eye for new ideas and an entrepreneurial flair to drive retail profitability.

The QM was created in December 2005 to combine the resources of all museums in the country and to further develop their capacity for collection and preservation of historic objects.
