Senior Civil Engineer

Job description / Role

Qualifications

Bacheloru2019s degree in civil engineering or equivalent.
Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer status is preferred.

Experience requirements

• Minimum 10 years of technical experience in the water sector, specifically in potable water conveyance systems or similar environments.
• At least 6 years in a supervisory role.
• Experience in environmental engineering and quantity surveying is desirable.
• Proven record of accomplishment in:
  • Reviewing tenders and technical bid packages.
  • Estimating project costs.
  • Overseeing contractor performance and compliance.
• Strong knowledge of potable water supply networks, including:
  • Water loss analysis.
  • Water data analytics.
  • Asset management strategies.
• Familiarity with international engineering standards and codes such as:
  • AWWA (American Water Works Association)
  • IWA (International Water Association)
  • Other relevant water industry standards.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English.

Key responsibilities

Engineering & design

• Lead civil/structural engineering activities across all project phases:
  • Concept development
  • Engineering studies
  • FEED (Front-End Engineering Design)
  • Detailed design
  • Commissioning
• Conduct site surveys and develop in-house designs and specifications.
• Review, check, and approve engineering deliverables.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering inputs to ensure cohesive project execution.

Project & scope management

• Develop and review comprehensive work scopes for engineering projects.
• Monitor and update engineering activity schedules.
• Ensure designs comply with QatarEnergy standards and technical assurance procedures.

Contractor & stakeholder coordination

• Review and approve contractor method statements for scope compliance.
• Resolve technical issues in collaboration with contracted organizations.
• Evaluate and approve or reject contract changes and technical deviations.

Team leadership & support

• Plan and coordinate activities of a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Provide technical support to project execution departments.
• Support the head of technical in updating and applying QatarEnergy standards and amendments to external standards.
• Mentor and support the development of Qatari associates.

Compliance & safety

• Ensure environmental and safety requirements are integrated into all designs and scopes.
