Job description / Role
Linum Consult's client is a world leader in oil & gas. They are currently seeking a Senior Legal Counsel who has experience of Projects, Operations, and Compliance laws within the Oil & Gas industry, to join a well-established team in Qatar
ROLE
• Providing advice on legal issues regarding the company’s activities and drawing up legal/commercial documents as required
• Counselling the company’s procurement and business unit clients throughout the process of sourcing suppliers and procuring goods, services, software and other technology as needed to support the company’s Oil & Gas operations
• Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating legal documentation to ensure compliance with the applicable laws and company’s policies and objectives
• Interpreting current laws and keeping abreast of new legislation
• Drafting letters and documents addressed to governmental authorities or similar as required
• Developing standard agreements and reviewing all agreements to ensure the company is protected legally
• Providing sound commercial legal advice to the company’s various departments and negotiating and drafting contracts
• Training and mentoring junior staff
Requirements
• University degree in Law from a recognised law school
• At least 10 years’ experience working as a commercial or procurement lawyer, with around 5-10 years’ working for multinational upstream Oil & Gas companies
• Previous experience of working in the Middle East is preferred
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work autonomously
• The candidate must be fluent in both written and spoken English
