Senior Manager Occupational Health - Qatar Airways - Doha

The Senior Manager Occupational Health will support the QR Medical Director in establishing an Occupational Medicine Service to the entire QR Group. The role will be responsible for developing this new service to support the business and employees to ensure staffs are and remain fit for their roles and that risks to staff from job related health hazards are appropriately controlled.

• To assist with the development of the Policy and Procedures needed to run a cost effective Occupational Health Service.
• Ensure that the Qatar Airways Occupational Health Service employs best-in-class industry practices.
• Motivates managers to employ best practice even in areas where regulatory standards are unavailable.
• Establish Occupational Health case reviews to enhance productivity, drive down absenteeism and reduce staff churn.
• Actively engage in staff development and managing complex internal stakeholder relationships.
• Assess the feasibility for developing the Occupational Health Service to be able to offer medical services across all Company grades.
• Influence the business to ensure senior management buy-in and use of the Occupational Health Service.
• Oversee the management of medical cases where work may have impacted on health or where health may impact on the future ability of staff to continue working.
• Advise managers on measures to reduce risks from workplace hazards and on suitable control measures.
• Provide specialist consultative medical advice to staff, regarding occupational medicine-related conditions or issues.
• Oversee and support the Occupational Health Services being delivered to the business through the Lead Occupational Health Manager and Occupational Health Advisors.
• Act as a focal point for liaison with the Company’s Occupational Health and Safety Team.
• Advise management on matters related to Occupational Health and raise awareness for occupational health-related medical issues within the business.
• Work with the VP QRMC to develop the strategy and delivery of health educational and wellbeing programs for the Group.
• Be responsible for the Medical Division’s own risk register with regard to specific protection of all medical staff from the hazards associated with the medical aspects of their roles.

Requirements

The successful for that role you should have Doctorate Degree or equivalent, in addition to a Medical Degree from an accredited university with A recognized post graduate qualification in Occupational Medicine.

Board certifications and / or Accreditation by professional Fellowship bodies. You must be an expert with minimum 7 years of job-related experience required. You must have worked in a Commercial or Industrial/Military Occupational Health Department. Previous experience in the Aviation Setting is a plus. Previous management experience of Occupational Health Department with teaching/training experience. Ability to delegate work, set clear direction and manage workflow. Strong mentoring and coaching skills. Ability to train and develop subordinate's skills. Ability to foster teamwork among team members.
