Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job description / Role

- Prepare pump station design
- Coordinate/ collaborate with other disciplines involved in pump stations or other MEP design
- Prepare design calculations
- Prepare design drawings
- Prepare design reports
- Prepare technical notes
- Prepare presentations to client/ stakeholders
- Liaise with client/ stakeholders’ design reviewers to address comments and secure design approval.
- Provide updates to team lead or project manager on status of design
- Provide feedback on resource requirements on assigned tasks
- Provide feedback on schedule requirements on assigned task

Essential skills and qualifications for the role
- Must hold a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at a reputable university recognized by MM Engineering Committee of Qatar.
- Must have MM Engineering Committee registration. Grade A is preferred.
- Must have 15 years’ experience, 10 years in mechanical infrastructure, i.e., pump stations, wet transmission lines, building services.
- Must be knowledgeable in the following design fields:
o Pump Station Design
o Pump Selection
o Hydraulic Analysis
o Surge Analysis
o HVAC
o Fire Fighting / Fire Suppression
o Fuel Systems Design
o Pipe Stress Analysis

- Knowledge in the following fields is an advantage
o Pipe Stress Analysis
o CFD for wet well
o CFD Analysis for ventilation /smoke control systems.

- Knowledge in the following software is preferrable:
o AutoCAD
o Revit
o Hydraulic Analysis Software, e.g. WaterCAD
o Surge Simulation Software

- Must have excellent communication and presentation skills
- Must be well versed in preparing calculations, associated reports, technical notes on the above-mentioned design fields.
