Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from a recognized institution.

Chartered engineer or professional engineer status (or equivalent) is desirable.

Skills & technical proficiency:

Proficient in mechanical/piping engineering analysis software such as CAESAR II.

Skilled in drafting software including AutoCAD.

Familiarity with 3D modeling of piping systems is an advantage.

Strong planning, communication, presentation, and reporting capabilities.

Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and multicultural environments.

Capable of resolving complex technical challenges across mechanical/piping and adjacent engineering disciplines.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.

Proven ability to foster teamwork and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders.

Experience:

Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in mechanical/piping design and engineering, particularly in:

Water piping networks

Onshore and offshore oil & gas facilities

Working with end-user companies, consultants, or contractors

Hands-on experience in construction, commissioning, and start-up phases of projects.

Demonstrated accountability for technical integrity and safety in engineering designs.

Primary duties & responsibilities:

Engineering & design oversight:

Provide mechanical and piping engineering design services across all assigned projects.

Ensure technical quality and compliance with company procedures, standards, and HSE policies.

Review and assess technical deviations and variations against approved codes, standards, and practices.

Ensure contractor and consultant deliverables meet company requirements and technical specifications.

Approve or recommend suitability of engineering submissions from contractors and consultants.

Project leadership & coordination:

Serve as the single point of technical accountability for assigned projects within the mechanical/piping discipline.

Plan and coordinate activities of multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure timely delivery of technical services.

Develop and review comprehensive and clear scopes of work for engineering projects.

Coordinate engineering designs and contribute to FEED/EPIC scheduling and project delivery.

Technical assurance & compliance:

Review and approve method statements for scope compliance.

Liaise with contracted organizations to resolve technical issues.

Ensure adherence to technical assurance practices and amendments to external standards.

Evaluate technical bid packages and assess the suitability of tenderers and proposed vendors.

Training & development:

Support the development of local talent through structured job training and mentoring.

Promote knowledge transfer and contribute to the growth of local engineering talent.

Additional responsibilities:

Maintain technical integrity and safety of all designs.

Operate independently with minimal guidance; work outputs are not subject to third-party design checks.

Assess and recommend acceptance of deviations from company and international standards.
