Senior Network Engineer (Telecom)

Job description / Role

Charterhouse is working with a globally recognised engineering firm that specialise in various sectors such as rail and transportation, machinery, aerospace and defence and energy. Our client is looking to hire an experienced, hands-on, Senior Network Engineer to oversee their portfolio of engineering services, which have most recently been contracted to the delivery of a multi-billion-dollar metro project.

This role will establish maintenance procedures required for the network infrastructure and other telecom systems, maintaining safety, quality and customer-oriented culture of maintenance teams of telecom systems.

In conjunction, you will monitor alarms, providing failure rectification of network infrastructure meant for SCADA and telecom systems like switches, router, firewalls, wi-fi access controllers, log centres, NMS and wi-fi access points etc. Additionally, the role will prepare fault/defect reports, checklists and MTIs and system/conf backup procedures.

The Senior Engineer Manager will liaise with operators, failure response teams, interface parties and the site team for failure rectification, whilst ensuring the compliance of IT and Cyber security policies for TEL/SCD assets.

Requirements

The client will look to recruit an experienced Network Engineer, with a minimum of 8 years’ professional experience, whom is able to demonstrate a sustained track record with Routing, Switching, Optical Network, Ethernet & MPLS Implementations and Troubleshooting.

The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge in various network protocols such as TCP, UDP, MSTP, Turbo Ring, VRRP, BGP and OSPF, whilst holding a good understanding of Huawei 57CXX, 77XX, Moxa series switches, NMS, Log Centre and FortiGate 200 series firewall.

The selected candidate must hold a bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in the electrical or telecom field, from an internationally recognised University. Preference will be given to candidates on the ground in Doha, and will be considered as a priority.
