About the role

We are seeking an experienced senior pipeline designer to support onshore and offshore pipeline projects in Qatar. This position offers the opportunity to take a lead role in pipeline design, working across multi-discipline teams and guiding a group of drafting professionals.

Key responsibilities

Develop conceptual and detailed design/construction drawings from project specifications, sketches, and technical documents.

Lead and mentor a team of draftsmen, allocating work scopes and ensuring quality outputs.

Prepare drawings and documents covering overall route layouts, alignment sheets, crossings, riser designs, hydrotest loop drawings, BOQs, and material take-offs (MTOs).

Review and check designs, material specifications, and procurement packages.

Conduct site visits to assess project requirements.

Develop piping layouts, isometric drawings, and detailed material specifications.

Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety procedures, and internal QA/QC requirements.

Collaborate with other engineering disciplines during design and safety workshops, including constructability reviews.

Participate in technical meetings and project reviews, supporting milestones and cost control.

Skills & experience

Diploma/Degree in engineering or engineering technology (relevant discipline).

5u201310 yearsu2019 experience in pipeline design, ideally within EPC project environments.

Strong knowledge of pipeline design principles, materials, and construction methods.

Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D), MicroStation, and tools such as Google Earth/MapSource.

Experience with 3D modelling platforms (e.g. AutoCAD 3D, PDMS) is advantageous.

Demonstrated leadership in design teams, with ability to mentor junior staff.

Familiarity with industry construction methods and installation details.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
